    The "visible" self is a constellation of emotions, perceptions, assumptions, memories, and many other psychological determinants, many of which are unconscious. According to psychodynamic models of psychotherapy, unconscious aspects of the self strive outward for expression, creating the conditions for building a consistent sense of self in the external world.
